house of metis

BLURB

brief and challenges - bomb damaged, structural issues, years of neglect.

This Victorian end of terrace house required a full renovation. Including the renewal of the mechanical and electrical services, and replacement of all the windows to the front and rear elevations.

The property had been stripped of all the original details and features including the front elevation. The brief was to restore the front elevation to its original Victorian design to match the neighbouring properties on the street. Elsewhere the property will have a modern design. Alterations where made to the layouts on each floor including:

The removal of the existing side return extension at the rear, and replacement with a new glazed roof side return, with new full width sliding doors opening onto the small garden.
The formation of a new opening between the kitchen and middle reception room.
New ground floor WC layout.
New staircase.
Alterations at first floor level to improve the existing layout of the bathroom, and enlargement of rear bedroom windows.
New mansard roof extension to form a new bedroom with en-suite and front roof terrace.
